Moraitika is a modern, very popular tourist resort in front of a long sandy beach, at a distance of 20 kilometers Southern to the town of Corfu. The settlement counts some 600 permanent residents. It is worth visiting the village of Episkopiana, very close to Moraitika, at a distance of 5 kilometers at the North. The village is the birthplace of the first governor of Greece Ioannis Capodistrias (1776-1831). Built on a hill, the village offers an excellent view of the sea. The beach is excellent for swimming and sunbathing; for those liking diving, a diving center is available both for beginners and for experts of the sport. There are also some beach bars offering light meals and cool refreshments to the swimmers. Access from the capital (Corfu, 20 km) is easy by taxi and rented or private car and motorbikes. A station of local taxis is also available in the village. |
